Undergraduate Application Instructions

2026 School of Communication Undergraduate Application

The online application portal will be available on November 1, 2025. The application can be accessed on this link. Below we provide the steps to apply, as well as the materials that should be submitted with your application.

Application to the School of Communication requires three (3) steps:

  1. Students applying to the School of Communication:
    a) Must currently be admitted to FSU, or
    b) Transfer students must have applied to FSU: http://admissions.fsu.edu/
    Note: Acceptance to FSU does not guarantee admission to the School of Communication.
  2. Beginning November 1, 2025, students may complete the online application.
    When completing the following online application form we recommend that you use one of the web browsers listed here: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox.
  3. Finally, students should submit the completed online application on or before the deadline of December 31, 2025, 11:59 p.m. EST.
    NOTE: Before submitting the completed online application, please print and retain a copy for your records.

Advertising

Students applying to the Advertising major should compile and submit:

a) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

b) A personal statement describing your prior experiences, career objectives and overall interests that are related to your application (maximum length: 500 words).

c) Portfolio materials should include a resume and up to 2 additional examples of your work (writing/copywriting samples, creative works, graphic art examples, illustrations, or social media campaigns) that are related to your application.

Digital Media Production

Students applying to the Digital Media Production major are encouraged to compile and submit:

a) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

b) The most current version of your resume; preferably as a PDF file, although Doc and DocX files are accepted.

c) A one-page personal statement discussing why you are applying to the DMP major.

d) Portfolio: a 5-minute video reel submission showcasing work samples. Please submit your reel as a YouTube link with your contributions to each sample detailed in the video description.

Public Relations

Students applying to the Public Relations major should compile and submit:

a) Copies of your college/university transcript(s); official or unofficial copies are acceptable.

b) A personal statement describing your prior experiences, career objectives and overall interests that are related to your application (maximum length: 500 words).

c) Portfolio materials should include a resume and up to 2 additional examples of work related to public relations (e.g., news release samples, social media campaigns, graphic design and creative works) that are related to your application.

d) Complete the PR Questionnaire (online fill-form).
