About the Forum

Communities today face increasingly complex and interconnected crises, from extreme weather and infrastructure disruptions to challenges in information access and public trust. Responding effectively requires more than technical solutions alone. It requires clear communication, coordinated systems, and collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

Building Resilient Communities brings together researchers, practitioners, and community partners to explore how communication, infrastructure, and information systems can work together to strengthen preparedness, response, and recovery. This forum is designed not only to share research, but also to foster dialogue, build connections, and generate practical insights that extend beyond the event itself.

This one-day interdisciplinary forum combines expert perspectives with active participation. Attendees will:

  • Hear from nationally recognized scholars in crisis and risk communication
  • Engage with experts across communication, infrastructure, and emergency management
  • Participate in breakout discussions and facilitated think tanks
