We are thrilled to announce the 2025 School of Communication (SCOM) Conference at Florida State University! This year’s theme, Sensational NOLE, celebrates scholarship that resonates—academically, socially, and personally.

We invite undergraduate and graduate students to share research that challenges boundaries, sparks dialogue, and inspires interdisciplinary collaboration.

Multiple formats to share your scholarship

Full Papers

Completed research with original findings, supported by data and analysis.

Conceptualized projects still in development (no data required).

Abstracts or outlines of planned research detailing topic, methodology, and anticipated contributions.

Creative Projects

Non-traditional scholarly work such as multimedia, performances, visual art, or industry-based projects.
Note: Submissions may include work presented at other conferences.

Submission Guidelines

Format requirements for each category

Full Papers

  • Maximum length: 25 double-spaced pages (excluding abstract, references, figures)
  • Format: APA 7th edition
  • Abstract: Maximum 150 words
  • File type: PDF (preferred) or Word document

Research Proposals / In-Progress

  • Length: 500–700 words (excluding title, keywords, references)
  • Include: Research questions, methodology, anticipated contributions
  • Abstract: 150 words
  • Title format: Label clearly (e.g., Research Proposal: [Your Title])

Full Papers: 20-minute talk with slides.

Full Papers / In-Progress: Submit poster file by October 20. Size: 48″ x 36″ (landscape). Templates: FSU Poster Templates

Roundtable Discussion

In-Progress: Share and discuss with peers in similar research areas.

Creative Projects

Present original work (e.g., video, design, performance). Videos must be submitted via digital link (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
We will do our best to honor your preferred presentation format.
